Description: Academic Merit-based scholarship to incoming freshmen honors students based on their unweighted high school GPA. Half of the scholarship will be applied in the fall semester and half in the spring semester.
Eligibility: To be considered, students must meet the following criteria:
- Admitted member of the Honors College (Apply Today)
- 3.5 or higher unweighted high school GPA
- Evidence of extracurricular and/or service activities
- Meet the FAFSA deadline (December 1) to be considered for this award. International students will be required to submit a copy of their I-20 in lieu of the FAFSA.
- Remain an honors student in good standing for second semester of freshman year
- Students must attend four different financial literacy workshops during the academic year (provided by the Financial Aid Office).

The 30 credit hours are to be earned during the fall and spring semesters only of each academic year. Half of the scholarship will be applied in the fall semester and half in the spring semester.
Eligibility: To be considered, students must meet the following criteria.
- Admitted member of the Honors College in good standing
- Must be working toward earning honors designations.
- Earned a total of 30 credit hours or more (for the academic year, fall, and spring semesters only), which are required for the completion of their program of study.
- Achieve a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA by May 5 (end of Spring Semester).
- Meet the FAFSA deadline (December 1) to be considered for this award. International students will be required to submit a copy of their I-20 in lieu of the FAFSA.
- Students must attend four different financial literacy workshops during the academic year (provided by the Financial Aid Office).

The Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious award offered at Central State University and is reserved for a few of the top incoming freshmen. Recipients are selected by a committee that considers academic merit, demonstrated leadership ability, community engagement and strength of character. A Presidential Scholarship covers tuition, fees, room and board.

Presidential Scholarship Requirements

- Enrollment in the Honors College
- Demonstrated leadership ability, community engagement and strength of character
- Applicants for Presidential Scholarship must be entering freshmen who have been admitted to the University with a high school transcript on file
- Scholarship applications from students who are not accepted to the University or who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements will not be considered
Continuous Scholarship
- The Presidential Scholarship covers up to 8 semesters of continuous undergraduate study (Fall and Spring Semesters only)
- Recipients must earn 15 or more credit hours per semester
- Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and remain in good standing in the Honors College each semester
- Recipients must complete four online Financial Literacy Sessions
Other Information
- Scholarships will be disbursed in equal amounts between the fall and spring semesters
- Room charges are covered for double-occupancy housing only (for spring and fall semesters only). Costs that are not covered by the Presidential Scholarship include:
- Tuition and fees for the summer semester
- Summer semester housing charges
- Charges incurred due to selecting a single room
- Total financial aid package including scholarships cannot exceed the total cost of attendance for Central State University
- Scholarships are subject to the availability of funds and can be adjusted as needed
- Students receiving the Presidential Scholarship are not awarded the Honors Freshman Scholarship or the Continuing Honors Student Scholarship

Students who are not selected for the Presidential Scholarship will automatically be considered for the Trustee Scholarship. Recipients are selected by a committee that considers academic merit, demonstrated leadership ability, community engagement and strength of character. A Trustee Scholarship covers tuition and fees.

Funded by the Strada Education Network, the Strada Presidential Leadership Scholarship focuses on investment in the next generation of leaders. Through this scholarship program, recipients will be provided leadership development, academic support and critical social engagement resulting in positive postsecondary learning opportunities that lead to meaningful career pathways for Strada Scholars. Strada recognizes the importance of HBCUs in providing economic and social mobility to America’s next generation of leaders and undertakes this Initiative to provide institutional and systemic improvements for the participating institutions and the students they serve.
Recipients Receive:
- $7,000 per year (4 years)
- $1,200 per year (3 years) for Internships
- $1,200 per year (3 years) for Leadership Development
Criteria

- Recipients must be Entering Freshmen

- Participate in leadership development opportunities annually/regionally
- Participate in mentoring and career coaching throughout academic tenure
- Participate in internships or other work-based learning experiences
- Willingly engage with Strada and its system of record, providing testimonials and experiences

Central State University is an 1890 Land-Grant Institution with a legacy of providing a world-class educational experience for a diverse population of students. As a result of our 2014 designation as a Land-Grant Institution, we have expanded our academic programs, research opportunities, and scholarships in our STEM areas.
Supported by the Choose Ohio First program, the Marauder Choose Ohio First Honors Scholarship is an opportunity for new freshmen from the state of Ohio to enroll at CSU. This is a renewable competitive scholarship, offering students up to $32,000 over four years. Students must achieve program objectives to receive renewable annual awards of $8,221.

Starting with the fall semester 2022, the DZAF will issue (2) $2,000 scholarships renewable for a second year. In year two the foundation will add an additional (2) $2,000 scholarships–renewable for a second year bringing the total each year to four students and a total of $8,000 annually in scholarships awarded.
This is an academic merit-based scholarship for incoming male freshmen honors students and continuing sophomore male honors students majoring in business or education. The scholarship will be applied to the student's account for the fall semester. NO monies will be given directly to the student.

DZAF CONTINUING HONORS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
- Admitted member of the Honors College in good standing
- Must be working toward earning honors designations
- Keep a declared major in business or education
- Earned a total of 30 credit hours or more (for the academic year, fall, and spring semesters only), which are required for the completion of their program of study
- Achieve a minimum 3.5 or higher GPA by May 5 (end of Spring Semester)
- Evidence of extracurricular and/or service activities on campus
- Submit to having their picture posted on the Delta Zeta Alumni Foundation Website as an awardee

The Honors College supports several prestigious national and international awards and scholarships. Some of these scholarships require representatives from Central State University to nominate students and others are open to all applicants. Please make sure to communicate with the appropriate campus representative below, to make sure you are following proper procedures when applying for a given scholarship or award.
- Barry Goldwater Scholarship | Prestigious scholarship for college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. The Goldwater Foundation is helping ensure that the U.S. is producing the number of highly-qualified professionals the Nation needs in these critical fields. - Boren Award | A Boren Scholarship funds study abroad by U.S. undergraduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests with a focus on language development (you do not have to be proficient in the language). Boren Award recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation. - Gilman-McCain Scholarship | The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. - Truman Scholarship | The Harry S. Truman Scholarship awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.
